Syrah Places 13th on Dunnuck's Top 100 Wines
Adelaida Vineyards & Winery’s 2021 Syrah Signature Anna's Estate Vineyard was selected #13 in Jeb Dunnuck’s Top 100 Wines of 2023
Included in a list of top wines from around the world, Dunnuck noted: “This estate, with the wines made by Jeremy Weintraub, continues to up the ante, and today they unquestionably fashion some of the top Rhône and Bordeaux variety releases in Paso Robles. These latest 2021s are easily the finest wines I’ve tasted from this address.”
According to the website, The Top 100 Wines of 2023 list is “a selection of the top wines tasted over the past 12 months and reviewed at JebDunnuck.com. The selection is based on a combination of quality, value, availability, and a little bit of the Wow Factor. It was made by scrolling through thousands of reviews and painstakingly cutting the list to 100 wines.”
The Top 100 Wines of 2023 list includes wines from throughout the world, including Napa, Sonoma, Oregon, Washington, the Rhône Valley, Champagne, Piedmont, and Tuscany.
Dunnuck describes the wine: "All from the estate vineyard in the northern part of the appellation, the 2021 Syrah Signature Anna's Estate Vineyard is 100% Syrah raised in 50% new French oak. Absolutely classic Paso Robles Syrah notes of black and blue fruit, peppery herbs, violets, leather, and game define the bouquet, and it hits the palate with a full-bodied, pure, layered, seamless profile that has so much to love. I like it today, yet it has the balance, as well as the structure, to evolve for a decade."
Jeremy Winetraub, Winemaker for Adelaida Vineyards & Winery, remarked on the 2021 vintage:
"I have been thrilled with the quality of the wines from the 2021 vintage. At the risk of sounding too hyperbolic, the 2021 growing season was about as good as it gets for growing wine grapes. It began dry, with just 7.75 inches of rainfall, and finished long and temperate, with just five days over 100F for the entire year. The grapes responded to these gifts with wines of beautiful aromatics, crisp acidity, great body, and vibrant color. I am grateful to Jeb Dunnuck for singling out our Syrah from this vintage as one of the most compelling wines worldwide, and I look forward to sharing all of the Adelaida wines with you for years to come."
