/ Case of 12

In the glass the wine has a sheer voluptuous silkiness, deep saturated purple color with a classic roasted meat and violet nose, reinforced in the mouth with flavors of smoked meat, dark plums, north African spices, green peppercorns and a finishing note of hickory smoked bacon.  Drink now through 2025.

Almost black in the glass, this rich and dense bottling impresses immediately with aromas of black currant, caramel, spearmint and wet slate. It's soft and velvety on the palate and loaded with flavors of roasted coffee, shaved chocolate and black plum pudding. Tannins uphold the weight perfectly.

93 points, Wine Advocate
Offering up notes of blackberries, cassis, rich soil, grilled meat and bayleaf, the 2015 Syrah Signature Series Anna's Estate Vineyard is a rich, medium to full-bodied wine with a layered, multidimensional palate structured around fine tannins and a succulent core of dark, savory fruit. It's a characterful and impressive Syrah.

92 points, Vinous
Inky ruby. A heady, complex bouquet evokes ripe blueberry and cherry, along with suggestions of incense, violet and black cardamom. Sweet, seamless and expansive on the palate, offering intense black and blue fruit flavors supported by a spine of juicy acidity. Combines richness and energy with a smooth hand and finishes impressively long and juicy, with smooth tannins lending gentle grip.

91 points, Wine Spectator
Plump and energetic, with expressive blackberry, smoky beef and cracked pepper flavors that finish with zesty tannins. Drink now through 2024. 242 cases made.

Vineyard Notes

Vineyard Notes
Named for Elizabeth Van Steenwyk’s grandmother, this mountainous 48-acre vineyard sits above and around HMR vineyard and supports Adelaida’s Rhône program. The white varieties (planted in 2007) of Grenache Blanc, Picpoul Blanc, and Roussanne lie at the lowest point of the vineyard where they benefit from a pooling of cooler air. Viognier is planted closer to the top. The red varieties (planted between 2001 and 2006) of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache Noir, Petite Sirah, Cinsault, and Counoise benefit from ideal sun exposure at the top of the steep, south-facing ridge location, which is delineated by calcareous shale sub-soil.
