White Rhône Blends

ADELAIDA Version White Anna's Vineyard 2013
90 points. Wine Enthusiast - October 2015
90 points. Wine Advocate, Robert Parker Jr. - August 2015
Paso's take on a Rhone blend, Adelaida's 2013 Version White is a terrific blend of 42% Roussanne, 42% Viognier and 16% Grenache Blanc that spent 10 months on lees in 37% new French oak. It gives up beautiful richness in its white peach, toasted spice, white flowers and brioche-scented bouquet. This gives way to a medium to full-bodied, ripe, textured white that has loads of fruit without ever seeming heavy or cumbersome. Drink it over the coming 2-3 years.

"Smooth and creamy with ripe fruit, vanilla and rounded flavors; good acid structure and balance."

ADELAIDA Version White Anna's Vineyard RESERVE 2012
91 points. Wine Advocate, Robert Parker Jr. - August 2014

"Deeper in color, with a richer, more layered style, the 2012 Version White Reserve is made from Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Picpoul that was aged 10 months in 94% neutral barrels and 6% in stainless steel. Loaded with white peach, apple, brioche and toast notes, this beauty flows onto the palate with solid richness, yet stays classy, balanced and pure. It’s another top notch to drink over the coming couple of years."
"A winery that flies under the radar, Adelaida Cellars consistently produces classy, balanced and fruit filled wines that show the best of the region. They’re always well-made and highly drinkable." Jeb Dunnuck

"The blend is Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Picpoul Blanc, grown at a high altitude on Paso Robles’s west side. The wine is dense and concentrated in apricots, oranges and mangoes, balanced with acidity and sweet oak. With a dry finish, it’s a complex wine to drink now."
Gold Medal winner. Sunset International Wine Competition - April 2014
"Showcasing the character of Roussanne with its rich textured viscosity, golden color and marmalade-like flavors this is Adelaida’s first Reserve Rhone White Blend.  Unlike many other white grapes these three southern French varieties are at home in the warm Paso Robles’ climate where they develop tropical aromatics while retaining balancing natural fruit acidity.  The dollop of Picpoul Blanc (5%), particularly adds a finishing crisp edginess to the wine’s beeswax complexity.   Emphasis on barrel fermentation, with nearly a full year on its lees (yeast & grape sediments) gives the wine a mild brioche component, adding even more to its multifaceted personality.  Recommended for current drinking or enjoy thru 2015."

ADELAIDA Version White 2012
90 points. Wine Advocate, Robert Parker Jr. - August 2014

"Leading off the three whites, the 2012 Version White checks in as blend of 33% Grenache Blanc, 25% Picpoul, 25% Viognier and the balance Roussanne. Aged 10 month in neutral barrels, it gives up pretty apple and pear fruits, with additional citrus and floral notes coming through with air. Medium-bodied, pure and elegant, it has the freshness to stand on its own, but will shine on the dinner table. Drink it over the coming couple of years. " Jeb Dunnuck

ADELAIDA Finder 2011
90 points. Wine Advocate, Robert Parker Jr. - August 2013

"A blend of 40% Picpoul, 32% Grenache Blanc, 20% Viognier and 8% Roussanne, the 2011 Finder is a beautiful, fresh white that’s loaded with notions of pear, white peach, lemongrass and citrus rind-like aromas and flavors. Upfront, supple and with a nice balance between richness and freshness, it gains in depth and length with air and is a serious, classy white. Enjoy it over the coming year or two. Drink now-2015." ADELAIDA Version White 2010
90 points. Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine - August 2013

"There is no getting away from the fact this rich and moderately complex offering sits on the riper end of the spectrum, but its ripeness is manifest in its depth and its expressive, very deep fruit and not in heaviness or heat. While fairly full-bodied, it is balanced and surprisingly lively with a fascinating mix of green peach, fresh flowers and hints of hardwoods that are joined by a minerally tang in its lingering finish. As expressive as it is now, it has not yet reached its peak, and we would be more than willing to put it away for couple of years."

ADELAIDA Version White 2008
91 points. Wine Advocate, Robert Parker Jr. - August 2010

"I also admired their 2008 Version, a blend of 58% Roussanne and 42% Grenache Blanc. A bigger, thicker wine than the Viognier, no doubt due to all the honey and waxy notes that the Roussanne grape offers, this wine displays loads of white currant, citrus, and honeysuckle in a dense style with plenty of body and personality. This big wine is not for the faint of heart, but I like the idea of blending the more elegant and acidic Grenache with the fatter, richer Roussanne. It should drink nicely for several years as well. ADELAIDA Grenache Blanc/Roussanne Rhôbe Style White 2006
91 points. Wine Advoacte, Robert Parker Jr. - June 2008

ADELAIDA Roussanne/Grenache Blanc 2005
90 points. Wine Advocate, Robert Parker Jr. - August 2007

"The ripe, medium-bodied 2005 Grenache Blanc/Roussanne (57% and 43% respectively) exhibits excellent aromas of flowers, rosewater, white citrus, and orange rind as well as plenty of richness, acidity, and freshness. Consume it over the next 2-3 years."

ADELAIDA Roussanne/Grenache Blanc 2004
90 Points. Wine Advocate, Robert Parker Jr. - August 2006

"My favorite white here is the 2004 Rhone Style White, which is a blend of 52% Roussanne and 48% Grenache Blanc. Honeyed grapefruit, lemon butter, rosewater, fig, and spice notes jump from the glass of this savory, medium to full-bodied, fleshy offering. With good underlying acidity, it would be a perfect foil for a fleshy, Copper River salmon."

ADELAIDA Roussanne/Grenache Blanc Rhône Style White 2002
92 Points. Wine Advocate, Robert Parker Jr. - June 2005

"The impressive light green/gold-colored 2002 Roussanne/Grenache Blanc (44% of the former and 56% of the latter) reveals a white Hermitage-like character with hints of white currants, licorice, flowers, and stone fruits. Possessing a full-bodied, authoritative style, it should drink well for 2-3 years."
