Paso Robles favors warm climate red grapes, however there are a class of white grapes that also have an affinity for these coastal mountains. Particularly successful here are the white Rhone varieties. Anna’s white blend contrasts the crisp and aromatic accents of 4 of these, emphasizing the apple and citrus personality of Grenache Blanc. The goal here is balance, that pushpull between purity and richness, achieving a sustaining sense of flavor, the pleasure center.
2014 was warm with little rain. Adelaida’s minimal watering protocols (deficit irrigation) focus on applying soil moisture at key growth stages. Each of the 4 varieties was handled independently with a wide spread of picking dates from late August through mid-September. Highlights of the winemaking included hand sorting, whole cluster pressed off the skins, juice settled and yeast inoculation in s/s and neutral oak, ML between 50-100% with periodic lees stirring. The finished wine has developed a cornucopia of flavors moving from crisp granny smith apple and tangerine to hints of pineapple and tropical fruits. Drink now through 2019.
