A dedicated collection of Rhône grape varieties, Anna’s mountainous 51 acres are divided between six red varieties planted between 2001 and 2004 along a steep south facing ridge and four lower elevation white varieties planted in 2007. Red varieties benefit from ideal sun exposure and exhibit nuanced flavors of their elevated mountain site in Paso Robles’ Adelaida District.
A somewhat classic Paso Robles harvest, the 2013 growing season went smoothly without any major heat spikes or cool stretches. It was dry, being the third year with drought conditions, which meant harvest was early and also fast. Yields were slightly down, but the complexity of flavors have proved to be very promising. A Syrah dominant blend of Mourvèdre and Grenache carries aromas of bright cherry, ripe red plums and fresh minerality. Luscious complexity, firm tannins and flavors of brambly compote pie rounded out by black pepper and a velvety mouth feel.
