Gold. Dallas International Wine Competition. Grenache 38%, Mourvedre 29%, Syrah 20%, Cinsault 11%, Counoise 2%. The desire is to craft a wine that holds your interest and shows complexity from the blending of five Rhône varieties. Is that cassis, clove, star anise, pepper , or wild mushrooms? The Grenache is raspberry, The Mourvedre is game, spice, and earth. The Syrah is dark berry fruit. The Cinsault is softness aromatics, pepper. The Counoise is deep purple, spice, floral. An overall engaging complex wine that hits all the senses, stimulates the taste buds and shines at the table. Versatile food pairings abound from Tri-tip BBQ to St. Andre on crostini.
There are no words to evaluate or describe this wine. It made every other wine we've ever enjoyed taste like 'Chateau Plonc.' It is deep, rich and filled with unexpected flavours. It cannot be drunk in a hurry, it must be enjoyed leisurely. Actually, it is impossible to drink hurriedly, there is too much to think about in each sip.
