91 points- Stephen Tanzer. Twice a day punch downs accentuated immersion of the skins and solids with the fermenting juice, resulting in deep color and tannin extraction. The resulting wine tastes of tart plum and thimbleberry fruit, with hints of gamey venison loin meatiness and a peppery finish.

A Shangri La of Rhône varieties can be found in the rocky, lunar landscape of the nearby Glenrose Vineyard. These mature 15-year-old vines lie on terraced sites and folds throughout the 1700 ft. elevated vineyard. Harvested and kept separate until bottling, these five diverse varieties have had time in bottle to fully integrate and knit together, a synergistic whole. The dominant Mourvedre contributes an element of tanned hides, cedar, and spice to the ripe blackberry and Damson plum fruit.

The longer growing season of York Mountain gives us a wine of seamless integration, structure, grip, focused flavors, and the reward of immediate gratification. An exciting contrast to Paso Robles styled Syrahs, this cooler climate version delivers the bright fruit driven concentration of red and black berries (think boysenberries) together with high-toned licorice aromatics.

More a theatrical music hall than a cerebral string quartet, Glenrose struts its ample virtues up front, right now. With a raised “sweet spot” of grilled bread & cedar plank gaminess, the wine envelopes your palate with dark fruit, bittersweet chocolate and North African spice.

This wine is from a high elevation vineyard on the westside of Paso Robles and is filled with dense black cherry and wild berry fruitiness. Accents of truffles, mocha and smoked wild game proceed a hint of dark chocolate on the finish. A good acid structure results in a perfectly balanced wine. Its opulent, saturated, full bodied character is the result of a pedigreed background of DeBro Vineyards.

A robust wine of beautifully extracted fruit, possessing assertive ripeness and an ambrosial luminosity of mineral tinged black fruit flavors. The wine vividly translates its Gallic haut couture personality into a more flamboyant California model. Supple texture and brooding power are aligned with masses of fruit and overt hints of smoke, pepper, and roasted meat.

No subtlety here, this “Rodin-like” sculptured wine wears its stone-mason structured extract on muscular shoulders, first showing penetrating blueberry fruit followed by mouth watering clove spice and Vulcan magma, benefitting its long lived potential.

A fruit-forward “Paso” expression of France’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this mountain grown wine achieves easy drinkability with aromatic complexity. The core of wild cherry-like fruit is layered with scents of herbs de Provence and a haunting roasted game bouquet. It is a comfortable match for smoked salmon or tapanade spread appetizers followed by herb crusted rotisserie chicken.
